PWA development

Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) make your website or web app installable, fast to load and usable with a poor connection, without an app store and with just one codebase.

Format
Progressive Web App
Platforms
Android, iOS, desktop
Benefit
One codebase, no store
Stack
For example, Storyblok, Supabase & Vercel

An app experience without the detour through a store.

A PWA is a web application that installs on the home screen like an app, starts quickly and can work offline as needed. Users open it through a link without an app-store download.

I build PWAs specifically for your business: a solution that fits your users and workflows rather than a template or website builder.

The starting point

Does this sound familiar?

01

Native apps are expensive

Separate iOS and Android development and maintenance doubles costs and effort. A PWA serves both from one codebase.

02

Users do not install an app

A store download is a significant barrier. A PWA opens from a link or QR code and can be added to the home screen.

03

The website is slow or needs a connection

Caching and service workers make your application load quickly and remain usable with an unstable connection.

Scope

What I build

01

Installable web app

Your own icon, full-screen display and app behaviour on mobile and desktop.

02

Offline features

Key content and inputs remain available offline and synchronise later.

03

Push notifications

Reminders and status updates delivered to supported devices.

04

Login, roles & data

Secure sign-in and data storage, for example with Supabase.

05

Performance

Fast loading through edge hosting, for example with Vercel.

06

Editable content

Manage your own text and content, for example with Storyblok.

Details

Decisions in PWA projects

  1. PWA or native app?

A PWA is usually sufficient for bookings, portals, tools and content. Native apps make sense when store presence or deep hardware access is essential. I recommend the simplest approach that achieves your goal. See App development.

  2. What works on iOS?

Installation and offline use work on iPhone and iPad; push notifications have limitations. I check which features you need on each device beforehand.

  3. Custom-built

Design and technology are tailored to your brand and workflows, without off-the-shelf themes or plugins.

Process

From idea to installable app

  1. Use case & scope 1 week

Clarify users, tasks and the offline and push features needed.

  2. Design & prototype 1–2 weeks

Mobile-first interface and clickable core workflows.

  3. Development 3–6 weeks

Build in short steps with service workers, a manifest and integrations.

  4. Testing 1 week

Device, offline and performance tests on Android, iOS and desktop.

  5. Deployment & operation Ongoing

Launch, monitoring and planning the next release.

Fit

When a PWA makes sense

A good fit if

  • You want an app experience without an app store and duplicate development effort.
  • Your users are often mobile or sometimes have a poor connection.
  • You want to reach users through links, QR codes or push notifications.

Probably not a fit if

  • You only need to publish information: a website is enough.
  • Store presence or deep hardware access is essential.
