Web design & UI/UX

To me, web design means structure that generates enquiries, interfaces that build trust and technology that stays out of the way. Individually designed, not assembled from a website builder.

One person: Elias

Your website can be your strongest sales channel, if it is built that way.

Most visitors decide within seconds whether to trust a business. Three things matter: a clear offer above the fold, a page that loads immediately on mobile and an obvious next step.

That is where my web design starts. I first plan the information architecture: who needs to learn what, and in what order? Then I design the UI and build the site with Core Web Vitals, accessibility and SEO basics considered from the outset.

The starting point

Does this sound familiar?

01

The site looks good but generates no enquiries

Often the missing ingredient is guidance: unclear headings, too many choices or no visible next step. I build around a decision journey: visitor → trust → contact.

02

The website is slow and awkward on mobile

Heavy themes, oversized images and piles of plugins cost loading time, visitors and rankings. I measure Core Web Vitals and optimise before launch.

03

Nobody on the team knows how to edit content

A site only a developer can change becomes outdated. I build sites you can maintain yourself and show you how.

Scope

What you receive in a web design project

01

Strategy & structure

Goals, audience and sitemap aligned with your offer and the terms customers search for.

02

UI/UX design

Desktop, tablet and smartphone layouts with typography, colours and components that can grow consistently.

03

Development

Careful implementation in WordPress, Webflow or a custom build, depending on how you want to manage content.

04

Performance

Optimised images, lean code and measurement against Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) before launch.

05

SEO basics

Clear heading structure, meta titles and descriptions, schema markup, XML sitemap and redirects when moving.

06

Conversion elements

Clear calls to action, contact or booking flows and trust signals such as references and reviews.

Details

What really matters for business websites

  1. Structure before appearance

Before designing, I establish what visitors need to decide. This informs pages, navigation and content. Important services need dedicated pages; a single catch-all services page is often insufficient.

  2. Speed is part of design

Google evaluates metrics including LCP (largest element loading time, target below 2.5 seconds), INP (responsiveness, target below 200 ms) and CLS (layout shifts, target below 0.1). I build with these goals in mind: modern image formats, few scripts and stable layouts.

  3. Mobile first

Most visits to local business sites come from smartphones. I therefore design mobile navigation, touch targets and readability first, then expand to larger screens.

  4. Accessibility from the start

Contrast, focus states, keyboard access and meaningful alt text cost little during design but much more to retrofit. See Accessible web design.

  5. The right system for your editing needs

WordPress suits regular editing by multiple people: see WordPress web design. Webflow suits a focus on design and interactions. Custom development fits special integrations or workflows. I recommend what fits your working day.

Process

From introductory call to launch

A typical web design project takes 4 to 8 weeks. More complex scopes are planned individually.

  1. Introductory call & goals 30 min.

In 30 minutes we clarify goals, audience, existing assets and budget. You then receive a fixed-price proposal with a clear scope.

  2. Concept & structure 1 week

Sitemap, page structure and core messages. You see the structure early, before time is invested in design.

  3. Design 1–2 weeks

Design key pages for desktop and mobile with one or two feedback rounds.

  4. Development & reviews 2–4 weeks

Build in the chosen system, add content and review progress on a staging site.

  5. Launch & aftercare 1 week

Technical checks for performance, redirects, tracking and sitemap, followed by publication and training. Ongoing support and SEO on request.

Fit

Who my web design is for

A good fit if

  • You want a professional business website that generates enquiries, new or relaunched.
  • You are a service provider, studio, trade or manufacturing business, or offer courses and content.
  • You want one consistent contact rather than changing project managers.
  • You want to be found locally in Mosbach, Eberbach and the Odenwald, or grow beyond the region.

Probably not a fit if

  • You want the cheapest solution and someone to fill a ready-made theme.
  • You need the website within days; good design and careful development take time.
  • You do not want to provide content or feedback; without your expertise, any site becomes generic.

Web design questions

It depends on scope and features: pages, text, integrations such as booking, and languages. You receive a fixed-price proposal after the introductory call. The price calculator provides an initial guide.

Usually 4 to 8 weeks from the first discussion to launch. Text and images are often the biggest timing factor; having them ready early speeds things up.

WordPress suits frequent content editing by multiple people. Webflow fits design-focused sites with fewer changes. Custom development makes sense for special workflows or integrations. We choose together in the introductory call.

Yes. Text, images and offers can be edited without programming knowledge, and I provide training. Additional support is optional.

Technical SEO basics are included in every project: structure, metadata, fast loading, sitemap and redirects. See SEO & visibility for ongoing content and local visibility.

On request: updates, security, small changes and SEO support. A website grows with your business.
